HARGA MINYAK NAIK.... MARI KITA NAIK BASIKAL

Tepat 12.01am harga minyak naik mendadak.... dari 01.95s/l dah jadi 02.7... increase in petrol price by 78 sen to RM2.70 per litre, an increase of more than 40 per cent.

Our GDP (Per capita) rank is now #56 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28PPP%29_per_capita) compare to South Korea, #35 where Malaysia used to be at par with back in 1970.

To be frank, I'm thinking of migrating to other country where the purchasing power parity (PPP) is high.

I'm sad whenever the retail gas price increase, the government still quote the gas price in Malaysia still among the cheapest compared to the rest of world. Oh c'mon.. don't kidding the citizens by the direct conversion figure.

Here are my thougt,

Current lowest gas price in US:

USD3.763 per gallon (1 gallon = 3.7856 liter) or approximately 1USD per liter. source: http://www.gasbuddy.com/

Current lowest gas price in Malaysia:

RM2.70 per liter (or USD0.84 at rate 1USD = RM3.20)

Average per capita in US: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28PPP%29_per_capita)

USD3820 per month

Average per capita in Malaysia:

USD1110 per month

With this figure, giving the price oil is almost the same, USD1 in US and USD0.84 in Malaysia, with the average per capita (for each head) still 3 fold compare to US. So, how the government still use the same tagline "our petrol price is still the cheapest" whenever the oil price increase when our per capita (or the salary) is among the lowest compare to the rest of the world.
